At Kankakee Valley Montessori School we provide a rich curriculum for children ages 2–12 that is designed to foster cognitive development, assist speech and language development, strengthen fine motor skills, teach practical life skills, and promote independence, confidence, kindness, grace, and courtesy. Students learn to have real responsibilities caring for and helping each other, contributing ideas, collaborating on projects and helping make group decisions. Montessorians emphasize interdependence and a sense of community. The materials used at KVMS facilitate self-teaching, sensorial and naturally allowing abstract concepts to be held and manipulated in their hands.
Five distinct areas constitute the prepared environment: Practical Life, The Sensorial Areas, Mathematics, Language Arts, and Cultural Activities.
KVMS also offers extra-curricular opportunities, such as our outstanding Arts program, as well as a fun and exciting summer program.
Our admissions process is fairly simple. Call to schedule a tour of our school or attend one of our Open Houses. During your visit you'll observe our learning environment, introducing you to the philosophy and materials of Montessori education. The absolute best way for you and your child to evaluate our school is to come spend some time in the KVMS environment.
